I have been sucked into the vortex of the Cullen family.
It's all Sam's fault, really. I had heard of the Twilight series of books; my cousins Katy and Jenn P. are big fans. I never really got interested, though, I thought, "Eh, vampires...not really my thing." But then Sam issued a challenge on her blog. For those of you who don't know anything about this book, or this movie, I'm sorry. Google Stephenie Meyer, get yourself to a bookstore, and get with it!
She was essentially saying, "Anybody whose anybody has read this book."
I couldn't back down from a challenge like that. So next time I was at the library, as luck would have it, there was actually a copy on the shelf. I spent the next four days reading every chance I got, staying up ridiculously late and generally finding ways to make the girls entertain themselves so I could selfishly indulge in a little vampire fantasy.
It's one of those books where you don't want to read it too fast because then it'll be over, but you just can't contain yourself! I allowed myself to rush through it only because I knew there were two more books after Twilight. Now I'm going to have to start rationing myself.
This is my feeble justification for being MIA on the blog. I can't get enough of Edward and Bella! After a panicked morning of finding no copies of New Moon at the library, calling Katy and Jenn, who I thought for sure would have one, I finally found a copy to borrow from my friend Brooks. It was ridiculous how excited I was to have found a copy I can start reading today.
Dan is full of mockery about my "teenage books." Sometime over the last few days we got on the subject of vampires and in a tone of mockery he said, "Yeah, I hear they make really good boyfriends."
Bite me.

Welcome to the world of Young Adult Fiction, a lot of it is better than the ADULT options. Bella and Edward, swoon, swoon. Did you know that my Christopher is really Christopher Edward. That name, well it has a whole new meaning now, what a lucky man.
So a couple of years ago when M and M came for Christmas I said to Mindy," I have a book you have to read" She started it like the day after she arrived and stayed up all night sitting on the bathroom floor reading. It hooks you, that's for sure.
We will be mocked but it's worth it
Well I guess I'm going to be getting into this now. I LOVE books that you don't want to finish because they are so good but yet can't put down!
Sign me up as the next contestant on this train!
Oh Sue...I wish you luck. I read Twilight last year and then New Moon and then Eclipse (Julie Gilmour has a copy you can borrow when you get to it). I locked myself up and didn't put them down till they were done. I told Seth he was in charge and I kept reading. It was great. I loved the books. The movie is coming out in December which is kind of exciting. However, I am certain no movie can do justice to the Edward I have created in my mind. :)
I read the first book, then was afraid to read the second and third book. I guess that's because I couldn't see a great way for all of it to end up. I don't know, maybe I just wanted resolution, without getting into an unending soap opera between two people. Somebody tell me what you liked about the second and third book. And I have to admit, though, I kind of have a bias against teenage girls. Way too much unnecessary drama. That stage kind of blew over me, in most traditional ways. Got no fashion or hairdo skills, not very girly. No posse of best friends. I'm sure high school in three different towns, in two different countries didn't help, especially considering how quiet I am.
Sorry, that kind of turned into a mini therapy session. I do have a weakness for romance novels, so that's not the problem with reading these books. Hmmm... we'll see. Give me some advice.
That's where you have been? I can't believe you would choose a VAMPIRE over MY phone calls!? I'm glad you have been enjoying yourself :)
When I finally got the 3rd book in the mail, I locked myself in my room and told hubby that he was in charge of the house and I wasn't coming out until I was done. Luckily I'm a fast reader - so I reemerged by the next morning.
My favorite part in all this mania are the husbands. They either love the books or hate them - not that any of them ever read them (or should), because they either embrace these books as making their wives generally more amorous and aren't at all threatened by Edward OR they hate Edward and everything he stands for... I just think it's funny.
Ahh . . . my evil plan worked! I am slowly converting hundreds of women to the vampire way.
Just kidding! But thanks for the credit anyway - I actually really do encourage people to get out there and enjoy a fantastic young adult fiction book every now and then. This series totally fits the bill - and as you can see by your commenters, appeals to both young and mature (notice how I didn't say old?).
Becky, if you're reading this, New Moon (#2) is actually my favorite so go and read it! And I totally agree with you on the teenage girl thing, but while reading these books I constantly had to remind myself of what I was like as a teen (so angst ridden and full of the drama, just like Bella).
It is best to get these books overwith fast or they can take over your life. I read all three books in one night each, staying up until almost 4 in the morning and waking up to the Hubby the next day asking "Are you a vampire?" I justified my crazy hours as total me time but also as time I wasn't taking away from my kids who were sound asleep.
Besides, when better to read about a handsome vampire than in the dark of night? :)
Oh, Sue. My favorite comment from you was when I was raving about "Eclipse" and you asked if it was some "steamy supermarket smut." Well, welcome to the world of vampire smut.
P.S. I am in love with Edward, that is all I have to say
Seriously cannot wait for the next book! I loved the "Bite Me." comment. :) LOL!!
Oh, honey... you are soooo in for it! These are mind-crack! Totally addicting! Even when you aren't READING them, they are all-thought consuming! You eat, drink, and think only of Bella the Cullens and the magical world of Forks, Or.
Clear your schedule for the next few days. You will be done by the weekend. (And by the way, I own all 3, so call if you get desperate for a copy... I am but a short run through the woods and down the road for Edward!)
And tell Dan to stop mocking... he need only stay nearby and he'll be converted by the "benefits" that come his way (after you read the really good parts)!
And if you haven't been to her website, it has been fun to see who they've cast for the movie! Last I was there, they'd finished casting Bella, Charlie and all of the Cullens, just Jacob Black left...
Happy Indulging! :)
When I read them Kenyon and Alex were so sick of hearing about them! One day while waiting for the shuttle for at the airport I said "if you were a vampire, you would have been to the car and back by now". Al freaked "Mom! It's not real and Vampires are not Fast!!!" I'm all (in a quiet voice) "yes they are"! Can't wait for book 4 in August!! Woo hoo!
Clearly you're still reading the Twilight books and I guess this is the time of year when Wedding Mania takes off in UT.
Wo ist das? Ich liebe dich and you need to post soon!
I so totally don't speak German. Was my German right??

Lori-
4 duplicates? That must be some kind of record! You only have to push the button once and then WAIT, you know...Way to bust out with some German! I have no idea if it's grammatically correct or not.
By the way, I love the idea of you changing your username to Lurking Lori.
And now, the important question: Did you get Twilight from the library yet?
