Been meaning to post these for awhile. They were taken April 6th.
After being couped up in the house listening to General Conference all day, Lily was ready to get out and do something. She brought me our book 365 TV-Free Activities You Can Do With Your Child (thanks, Becky!) and we found one about doing a chalk maze out on the sidewalk. Feeling newly inspired by Elder Ballard's talk and thinking about treasuring the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less, we headed outside and I spent about an hour drawing a chalk maze for Lily.
Prepare to be impressed. Not by my cool maze, but by Lily's photography skills. She took these pictures:
Check out the totally sweet dutch angle! I think we have a budding photographer on our hands!
I love this one Lily took of Amelia and me.
(The rest of the photos were taken by me.)
Amelia had lots of fun "helping" me with the maze. She kept stealing my chalk and I'd have to go find another piece, only to repeat the process again a few minutes later.
An hour of chalking and she completed the maze in about 45 seconds. Somehow it doesn't seem fair. Ah well, all in the name of quality time...
And hey, if the photography thing doesn't work out for Lily, she can always fall back on her balloon design skills. She made these shapes all by herself (a human and a dog).
Watch for her on the T.G.I. Friday's circuit in about 10 years. Be sure to give her a big tip!

Wow, you know I never thought about it before, but your kids could have some seriously SWEET photography skills by the time they hit high school, not to mention adulthood. They could work on the school paper, yearbook, whatever, or just take great pics of their family and friends. Awesome.
Oh, by the way, THAT's where my books ended up at! Last summer I went looking for the "365 tv-free activities" books, indoor and outdoor versions, and I finally gave up and bought some more! But I'm glad to hear they wound up someplace useful! Did you ever get a bird's-eye-view type of pic of your maze? It would make a great background for a digital scrapbook page... sorry, the creative, but slumbering, part of my brain woke up for just a second... and now it's back asleep. Hope to see more "just doing stuff with the kids" pics this summer!
Nice work on the photos little girl! She's a natural! I love the one of her feet walking the maze.
That sounds like a great book. I'll have to get some more ideas from you.
Nice Ruby slippers. I hope she came across the tin man and scarecrow along the way. I love the comment about TGIFridays. Just make sure she has enough pieces of flair. Office Space anyone?
Sue,
Keeping those skillz in the family! I love it. Your kids are soo cute.
