Lily started piano lessons on May 2nd.
We've been thinking about her learning piano for a long time, but we didn't think it would be practical since we don't have a piano ourselves or even much room for a keyboard. Plus I wasn't sure how well a kid could learn piano if their parents didn't play. But after awhile we just decided it was important to us that she learn that skill, so we enrolled her. My friend Karla has been gracious enough to let Lily practice at her house several times a week.
Lily really didn't want to take piano lessons, but after the first session she was hooked. Her teacher, Janel Dayton, makes it really fun and after two lessons Lily asked if she could go more than once a week. We now have her set up to take lessons twice a week.
And when you live in a town so small you can get to piano lessons in one minute by car or five minutes by bike, it's really no big deal to schedule it twice a week.
Lily has really been getting interested in photography since Santa brought her a little camera for Christmas. She takes lots of pictures; sure makes this Mama proud! It's always a treat to download the images off her camera because I never know what I'll find. Last night I discovered this gem from May 1st of Mack & Amelia ready for church.
Mack saw this and said, "That Mee-yah Dee-yah (Amelia Bedelia) and Mackey. Got big owie on it." Mack got a little road rash playing table tag at the park.
After his scab came off Amelia was looking at the pink spot left behind and said, "Mama! I think I can see his spirit. It's pink!"
Mack recently got a haircut and a new T-ball set. Mostly he just tries to whack it as if he's got a machete in his hand.
The little ones and I have been getting out more now that the weather is finally improving. We go out walking and Amelia rides her bike.
This particular morning Mack insisted on bringing his rope.
Which turned out to be a good idea since we ran into a cattle drive on the way back home!
Ron Teichert and most of his kids were moving their cows to greener pasture and his daughter Mary kept driving up the road, in the lead vehicle, and warning us about the cows coming. She offered to give us a ride back so the kids wouldn't get scared. I assured her that my kids would get a big kick out of being right in the middle of the cows.
In case you're wondering, no, we didn't get a dog. That's Brian & Becca's dog Skyley. She often follows us, looking for some adventure.
I cannot tell you how HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY I am that Spring is finally here! We still don't have leaves on the trees, but the grass is getting greener and Karla had daffodils up in her yard yesterday. I will plant my garden in a couple weeks and before long it'll be hot and we'll all be cussing about the mosquitoes!

You really do have some of the most gorgeous kiddoes. Mack looks like such a biggie now that he has his hair cut. And way to go on the piano. You won't regret it. I stop in my tracks everytime Hannah sits down to play. Sigh.
I never thought about spirits being in technicolor ... but why not? LOL
Sue, I'm so glad your'e back to posting. I feel like I haven't seen or talked to you in such a long time. Your kids are getting so grown up and are just as cute as ever. Mack is really starting to resemble Dan and I love that he took his rope on your walk, you never know when you're going to need it! I'm glad your starting to get some sunshine, you'll have to come visit us down south some time, we've been in shorts and t-shirt since February:)
Hi Sue! I'm so happy you are getting some warmer weather! LOVED that picture of Mack with his rope. He is such a doll.
Yay! Your back. I sure did miss your posts! Your kids are so freakin cute. I can't believe how big Mack is getting. And his teeth! Bubba took one look at those and ran from the computer holding her head! ;) Don't let him near her with that set of choppers.
Thanks for the update!
So good that Lily likes piano! Adrian has one in his parents' house and he used to take lessons.
When we dream about building a house we always take into consideration the extra space needed for the piano ;-)
Your kids are just wonderful, Sue!!!
Kisses!
So, is Lily going to play something for us at the fam reunion? We could bring our keyboard.
Totally random, has nothing to do with your post, but I just went back and read Open Mic Day:

I wonder if he's done anything funny recently...
Dude, I just went and looked at his blog. Yep, there are tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing like a hyena. Check this out:

I swear, he looks like the cover on a horror film dvd.
Yes, it's 2:39 am in the morning, and I'm reading random crap on the internet and laughing my guts out, making Gil come downstairs to tell me to quit laughing because it's really, really creeping him out.
Your kids have the most beautiful eyes and smiles I've ever seen.
