Exsqueeze me, I believe I ordered the SUPER snowy winter...

Our street has looked like this for several weeks:

The plows don't make it onto the smaller streets, and I'm starting to forget the last time I actually saw pavement. But it's been great for Dan doing donuts! (Hey, when you drive a beater like we do, you can afford to have a little fun!) There has been record snowfall this winter and every couple of days they keep saying we'll get another 3-6 inches. Dan has been shoveling like a mad man!

Lily has been begging to go sledding for several weeks and I finally took her and Amelia on Wednesday.

There's a park near the house with a little hill. We call it the Windy Park because, well, for obvious reasons. This day was no exception and it was butt cold! (Note to self: wind+snow=where's my hot chocolate?)

Amelia was a little hesitant at first, but once she had gone down, she was hooked. I wish I had a picture of me going down in the sled with her, holding my camera high in the air to keep the snow from spraying all over it. After I had taken Amelia, Lily wanted to go by herself. Amelia stood at the top of the hill, watching, and started squalking and trying to run down the hill to get the sled because she wanted to go so bad.

She kept getting irritated that Lily was taking so long because she kept slipping.

Wheeeeee!

And, of course, whenever playing in the snow, you MUST do a snow angel!

Lily had fun pulling Amelia around in the sled...

...like a little snow dog!
Our outing didn't last too long because it was so cold. Amelia's eyes were tearing up from the wind and she was seriously boogin'.

And as fun as it looks from the pictures, this is actually what Lily looked like most of the time. She was mad because the snow wasn't all packed down and slick right from the beginning so we had to do 4 or 5 runs before we had a good track, she was mad because she kept slipping, she didn't like pulling the sled up the hill, etc. etc... Remember that about sledding? It was so exhilarating to go down, but then it totally sucked having to trudge up the hill.

Oh to be young again and enjoying all that cold sledding fun. I use to be out in that white stuff for hours until my toes were so frozen and wet that I could hardly walk.

Back here in Ole Virginny we're praying for any kind of moisture.....rain, sleet, snow, anything that will help replenish our water supply. We're in a drought and need water.

You're a great Mom, getting your kids out in the snow, especially on a cold day! But, the pictures are fun to remember, for sure. Man, I think we just get old and crusty as we age. I know I can't be induced to get out in the snow much these days. Maybe it's the thought of dressing a bunch of toddlers for cold weather that makes me shudder, I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that nobody makes snow clothes for fat chicks. What's up with that? Can't we have fun, too? Okay, seriously, I think we're just a little sluggy around here, and I'm in denial about the snow. I envision bright new grass, fragrant spring air, the blooming of tulips, aahhhh...
