Let us remember the joys of a 5-year-old with cryptosporidium.
Yes, that was super fun.
Lily was asking Dan and I the other day when she could start swimming lessons again. I told her she'd have to wait until summer and we needed to find her a better teacher than this past summer. I said, "maybe Daddy could be your teacher." Dan said, "Uh, I'm never going to a public swimming pool again." Anyone planning to install a pool in their backyard anytime soon? Nana, Lily is so disappointed we don't live next door like Shea and Alex!
This layout is another one of my experiments in digital scrapbooking. This is from July 2007 when my best friend from high school, Lori, came for our annual visit. Instead of using a quick page, I designed this layout with different digital elements I downloaded for free.
- Background paper and pink spotted paper from Anne Langpap's July freebie kit on Two Peas in a Bucket. I just changed the hue and saturation in Photoshop. The journaling tag is also from this kit.
- Title font is "gift" from free fonts on Two Peas in a Bucket.
- Swirly doodle is from "ggs love me" font also on free fonts on Two Peas in a Bucket. It's the lowercase k.
- One other element you probably can't really see online is a grunge overlay that I put over my pink borders around the photos. In Photoshop layers I used overlay at 50% opacity. This overlay is a freebie on Sugarplum Paperie's blog. She has tons of great freebies and has been very helpful answering some email questions and sharing information. She also has a great tutorial for customizing your blog banner.
Here are the pages separately so you can see them bigger (click to view larger):
I'm not crazy about the title. I've been trying to think of something clever (besides Don't Drink the Water) but I haven't come up with anything. Any ideas?

I love the pages!!!! THe kids are adorable. . . I look nice too! =)
I can't think of a good title for your page. What a dork that I am that I didn't want to wear sunscreen! What the heck was I thinking? Hey, I never did get burned did I??????????
Lori
I need a scrapbooking lesson 101. I look at all you stuff and love it, but have NO CLUE how to make it happen! HELP! (in all your spare time) haha!
This looks so great! We had the same summer pool experience (unfortunately)! I love the pool so much though, I'm sure we'll be back next year.
I wish I had a great title for you, but.. I don't. Fun in the sun? Pool Party? It's so hard to beat don't drink the water...
first of all let me say how impressed I am with you and all of your blogging. Second, I really love your digital scrapbooking. The pages are so cute, and seem so much easier. And third, I would love to put a pool in my backyard (actually Josh wants it more than me) and you know you would be invited over daily, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Keep up all of the good work!
Oh My Gosh! Public pools, especially public pool locker rooms, really gross me out anyway, but that's just nasty! Can't they triple the chlorine they put in the pool, or something!! Eewwww! Okay, page titles, hhmmmm... how about "Summer Fun" "Sun, Wind, Waves" (a stretch, I know), or "Mermaid in Training" Okay, this is why I don't scrapbook anymore, and blog instread. Too many decisions to make, or something.
Ugh, public pool locker rooms are the worst! The thought of going in there barefoot gives me the puke shivers! I always have to nag Lily to put her sandals on before she goes potty.
We have a pool at our condo and even that is a little questionable, but you can come use it anytime. I think Josh told me once that peeing on your feet in a public shower will kill the germs, athletes foot, other fungi, what not. And that grossed me out to think of everyone else that might have peed in the shower.
Did you ever finish this page. I just thought of another title: "Hidden Dangers." You could also use it as a little journaling side-note.
